AIRBUS FAL USA / A-220 FINAL ASSEMBLY LINE

MOBILE, ALABAMA

Project Summary:

The Final Assembly Line Building is part of an Airbus campus in Mobile, Alabama comprising over 1,260,000 square feet of total floor area. The A220 Final Assembly Line facility is a steel framed building approximately 840 feet in length, with a vaulted roof protecting 206,000 square feet of gross floor area. The 80-foot tall exterior walls are constructed with insulated metal panels. The seamed metal roof system has eight glazed roof monitors providing natural lighting to the building. High-performance air barrier tightness requirements were developed to satisfy a need to eliminate contaminants that would compromise exterior coatings on the aircraft.

BPA provided building envelope commissioning services including design reviews and documentation of design issues; building envelope commissioning planning; submittal reviews; construction observations; and witnessing testing.
